INTRO FLOWER CLASSES

Come join Lennie at B-Side Farm to learn all about winter pruning of heirloom bush rose varieties. We'll cover the basics and get hands-on practice by pruning B-Side's small but mighty collection of ~100 roses.

No experience necessary, light refreshments served. Please wear long sleeves and thick gardening gloves.

Flowers Start With Seeds! Seed Sowing Class With Lennie Larkin of B-Side Farm & Floral Design

When it comes to planning the home garden, many people are intimidated by the process of starting seeds indoors. Lennie is here to demystify the process and teach us all the ins and outs of starting seeds at home - whether in a backyard greenhouse or simply on the windowsill. We'll cover sowing dates, different methods for different types of seeds, tips for especially tricky seeds, and provide handouts to guide you through caring for your transplants as they grow. 

All materials are provided - all you need is an excitement to learn, and a garden, window-box, or large pots at home for eventually transplanting your new plant starts. We'll send you home with a 50-cell tray full of great varieties of flower seeds you sow in class.

Class Description: For our intimate garden flower school series we throw open our garden gates and invite in the flower enthusiasts! This class is a bit about gardening and a bit about designing. The class will begin with a tour of the gardens where we grow over 50 varieties of heirloom flowers. We'll talk best practices for starting a sustainable cutting garden, and take a look at our little seedlings growing in the spring air. While summer flowers won't be in bloom yet, you'll get a sense of what's to come for the season and feel the sunshine on your back. 

For the second half of the class, we'll gather on the porch as Lennie gives a demonstration on how to make a low table centerpiece with spring flowers. Students will then each make their own arrangement to take home, with guidance from Lennie and the B-Side Farm team. 

* Open to all levels - this is a fun and supportive atmosphere. 

* Class purchases are non-refundable. However if you find you can't make it, please by all means give your spot to a friend!

* Light refreshments and wine included.

* All students will take home their one-of-a-kind centerpiece, all materials and   supplies included. 

* Pre-registration required.

* Class must have at least 4 people in order to run. If not fulfilled, we'll let you know with plenty of lead time, and offer either a refund or placement in a similar class when you're available.

Come on out to B-Side Farm to learn all about roses for the cutting garden. This gardening class will take us through rose variety selection, planting methods, fertility needs, irrigation, cutting techniques, and cultural care in the garden. 

While not a design class, everyone will have some time to wander through the fields to cut flowers and make a small, easy arrangement to take home.
